The Quiet Baseball Field

The Quiet Baseball Field

Wednesday, Sharon and I went out on another adventure in search of abandoned places. This time we set our sights on Superior and Miami, Arizona, where we knew there were plenty of places that were left deserted by the mines shutting down and the horrible economy.

Superior was the first town along the way. We knew from experience that getting off the main road is usually where we find the awesome abandoned places. Besides, these places usually don’t have people living nearby which makes it nice to roam freely throughout the property without being bothered.

After driving down a few streets, there it was sitting quiet and lonely, a baseball field. We drove down to the dirt parking lot to check it out. It was a mess so we weren’t sure if it was truly abandoned or just not well maintained. After wandering around and examining the dugouts, we decided to add this baseball field to our book. Sharon got a reading on a girl with a cool name, “Julie”, lol. While in the middle of taking pictures, Superior’s finest drove in the parking lot, circled around, stopped by Sharon’s car, and then took off. We are not sure if a local complained about us, but all they saw was a couple of goofy middle-aged ladies taking pictures of their baseball field. Apparently we were just not worth their time. Anyhow, this was the first stop on our trip. More to come…
