The Burlington Bees, Class A affilliate of the Kansas City Royals, were optimistic with their opening day roster against the Quad City River Bandits, per an article written by the radio broadcaster KBUR.
The Burlington Bees have started each of the past two seasons toward the bottom of the Western Division of the Midwest League. The second half of the season each of the past two years has led to division titles. The Bees are looking to get off to a good start this season when they open up the 2010 season at home against the Quad Cities River Bandits. It's also the first time the Bees will open and close a season at Community Field.
Left-handed pitcher John Lamb, who's rated No. 7 in the Royals prospect list, will be on the mound to start the game. Lamb went 5-3 last year with a 3.80 ERA as he split time with Burlington's rookie league team and short-season Idaho Falls. Other notable starters will be Wil Myers, who's rated No. 3 in the Royals prospect list. He'll bat third followed by Rene Oriental.
