Astros at the plate:
Carlos Lee knocked a three-run homer with no outs in the third to put the Astros ahead, 5-4. Hunter Pence went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Lance Berkman went 1-for-2 with a base hit and run scored.

Yankees on the mound: Starter Mike Mussina allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits over two-plus innings. He yielded two runs in the second and Lee's three-run shot in the third. Competeing for a spot in the rotation Jeff Karstens worked 3 scoreless innings for the win. Steven Jackson, Dan McCutchen and Mark Melancon pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit. Cody Ransom committed an error with one out in the bottom of the ninth but Melancon got Tomas Perez to ground into a double play to end it.

Astros on the mound:
Starter Wandy Rodriguez allowed four runs, three of which came in the third frame. He yielded six hits and walked one. Rotation hopeful Mark McLemore allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings, walking three and striking out one.

Up next: The Yankees will visit the Blue Jays on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Right-hander Phil Hughes will face Toronto right-hander Jesse Litsch.

The Astros will host the Tigers at Osceola County Stadium beginning at 1:05 p.m. Ace righty Roy Oswalt will face Detroit lefty Nate Robertson.
